Grupo Negratín to invest €59 million in six photovoltaic projects in Colombia

Grupo Negratín will invest €59 million this year to bring six photovoltaic projects into operation in Colombia, a market where it is set to become the company with the highest number of megawatts built.

The company was founded in 1998 by brothers Ángel and Celedonio Noguera in Pozo Alcón (Jaén). It began as a subcontractor for electrical installations but later moved into the construction and operation of energy projects.

The group, which has already delivered 4.56 gigawatts of renewable energy plants across around ten countries, forecasts sales of more than €220 million for 2026.

Negratín aims to expand into new markets and strengthen its portfolio of owned photovoltaic and wind assets. To drive this strategy, the company has welcomed investment funds TiLT Capital Partners and Swen Capital Partners, which have acquired 38% of the firm.

“We needed capital to reinforce our investment plan through 2030,” Celedonio Noguera, Vice President of Negratín, told ABC. The group has also created NGS, an investment arm focused on acquiring late‑stage development projects.

The first portfolio it will activate is in Colombia, a country where Negratín has been operating as an independent power producer (IPP) since 2022. “These are owned assets. We want to consolidate a portfolio that provides solidity and security because we also believe that it generates valuable synergies with the EPC line of business we have been developing for years,” Noguera explains.

EPC Track Record

Some of the turnkey (EPC) photovoltaic plants the company has been involved in across Spain include La Flota in Murcia for ENI Plenitude, El Cerro in Badajoz for Matrix, and Virgen del Rosario for Kobus in Motril (Granada). Negratín has also carried out projects for TotalEnergies, Naturgy, EDP, ENEL, Verbund and Vena Energy, among others.

The company is currently participating in the construction of four photovoltaic parks in Andalusia. The latest plant it has commissioned in the region is Virgen del Rosario, with an installed capacity of 29.99 megawatts. Its development required in‑house engineering solutions to overcome the site’s uneven terrain.

The power evacuation system, which supplies the equivalent of 16,500 households, was executed through an underground route to avoid nearby greenhouse areas.

Grupo Negratín is a vertically integrated group—designing, developing, executing, operating and maintaining renewable energy facilities. It surpassed €100 million in revenues for the first time in 2024 and currently employs 500 people across its various offices.
